Service Design for Early Childhood Opportunities // Summer 2019

Story: Valuable public services are made inaccessible through layers of bureaucracy. New interventions can serve families more holistically, such as 2-Generation programs that acknowledge parental well-being as part of child development. New policy choices must repair past harm of paternalistic means-testing and surveillance against Black, indigenous, and other families of color.

Impact: Through our work funded by the NYC Opportunity Innovation Fund, previously siloed system administrators came together on big challenges, like how to refer families to high-impact family programming without escalating to child protective services.

Listening Sessions with HBCU Students & Rural Georgians // Spring 2022

Story: The 2020 election cycle clued the nation in on the power of investing in civic power-building in the South. As this new spotlight grows for national and state-wide races, there is an opportunity to more directly meet the local needs of communities whose votes transform a nation.

Impact: Our team led listening sessions with HBCU students and rural Georgians to hear their visions for policy change and for growing their civic involvement & leadership. Our findings support our community-based partner to shape messaging strategy, build coalitions, and create policy platforms that lead to direct improvements in people’s lives.
